Sussex County Amateur Swimming Association (ASA)
represents the interests of affiliated swimmers and
clubs across East and West Sussex and Brighton & Hove.
We are affiliated to ASA South East Region.
Swimming has a long history in Sussex. Brighton Swimming
Club, the oldest swimming club the country, was
established in 1860. The county’s first president, Mr
L.R. Styer from Brighton Swimming Club, was installed in
1895.
The county now represents 25 competitive clubs and 17
affiliated organisations. For information about clubs
close to you click here.
Only swimmers who are members of affiliated clubs
can compete in county championships and competitions. To

Swimming Association click

The county
organisation is lead by the County President and managed
through a committee structure, lead by the chairman and
management committee.
Technical committees organise competitions
and training for each of the swimming disciplines. The
general purposes committee oversees governance.
Annual
Council and Mid Term Council meetings are held in June
and December each year. These meetings are open to all
clubs and members of affiliated clubs.
