Swimming links

ASA South East – the regional organisation for the Amateur Swimming Association.

British Long Distance Swimming Association - provides information about open water training, competitions and leisure swimming activities

British Swimming – the governing body in the UK for all aquatic disciplines.

ESSA – the English School’s Swimming Association co-ordinates school aquatics at county, divisional and national competitions.

Fina – the world governing body for all aquatic disciplines.

Institute of Swimming – the IoS provides support services and continuous professional development for teachers, coaches and other swimming professionals.

National Swimming League – formerly the Speedo League, this is a national inter club competition.

Safe Watersports – a resource of good practice for staying safe in and around the water.

Sporting links

British Olympic Association – BOA is responsible for British representation at Olympic events.

British Paralympic Association – charitable organisation responsible for entering, funding and managing Britain's teams at the Paralympic Games.

Commonwealth Games Federation – CGF is the organisation responsible for the direction and control of the Commonwealth Games. It also encourages and supports the use of sport as a means of education and recreation.

Parasport – a joint initiative between the British Paralympic Association (BPA) and the professional services firm Deloitte. The project will improve how talented sports people at community level are identified and supported, with the aim of increasing participation levels in competitive sporting events.

Sport & Recreation Alliance - is the national alliance of governing and representative bodies of sport and recreation.

Sports Coach UK – a charitable organisation and lead agency for development of the UK Coaching System.

Sport England - Sport England creates opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to play sport in every community and is responsible for funding in line with government objectives and targets

Sussex County Sports Partnership – provides support services and education courses for all sports in Sussex.

UK Sport – UK Sport works in partnership with the home country sports councils and other agencies to lead sport in the UK to world-class success.

Disability links

British Blind Sport – The work of the charity enables visually impaired people to have the same opportunities as sighted people to access and enjoy sport and recreational activities in the UK.

British Wheelchair Sports Foundation (BWSF) - provides accessible facilities at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the “home of Wheelchair Sport” including a Sports Hall, Indoor Bowls Centre, Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre.

Cerebral Palsy Sport (CP Sport) - promotes and seeks to increase sport and physical recreational opportunities for people with a disability and especially those who have cerebral palsy.

Disability Sport Events - create participation opportunities for disabled people with all impairments.

English Federation of Disability Sport - is the national body responsible for developing sport for disabled people in England.

Funding links

Awards for All – provides financial support through grants of between £300 and £10,000 to fund a specific project or activity. Organisations can receive up to a maximum of £10,000 from Awards for All in any two year period.

National Lottery Good Causes – distributes funding from the National Lottery to 14 organisations including Sport England and UK Sport.

SportsAid – SportsAid focuses on giving grants to youngsters aged 12 to 18, from 50 able-bodied and 25 disability sports. These athletes compete in national squads and these grants, generally worth £500, help with costs such as travel, training, accommodation, competition fees and equipment.

Swimming Trust – The Swimming Trust support is targeted at those who need it most; directly to the swimmer to help with travel, training and equipment costs.

The Youth Opportunity Fund - The Youth Opportunity and Capital Funds provide discrete revenue and capital budgets for young people to control and decide how money should be spent on positive activities and youth facilities in their area.

Volunteering links

Community Matters - the nationwide federation for community associations and similar organisations with a key role in promoting and supporting action by ordinary people in response to social, educational and recreational need.

Health and Safety Executive – central resource for all aspects of health and safety.

National Council for Voluntary Organisation – national charity giving voice and support to voluntary and community organisation.

Volunteering England – national volunteer development organisation for England. It works strategically across the voluntary, public and private sectors to raise the profile of volunteering as a powerful force for change. Also provides support systems to assist anyone involved with volunteers.
