Selection in
season 2008
CRITERIA
These swimmers will be part of the
Squad in the following Season September 2008 to August 2009
Any swimmer
11-21 years who actually
competes in three or more S.E. Region Individual events and
achieves the base consideration time or faster.
All clubs head
Coaches & swimmers are responsible for informing the county
secretary of any National qualifying times achieved at licensed
meets by swimmers not currently on the squad during the current
season in order that they may be considered for inclusion in the
training squads for their future development.
Upon acceptance
swimmers must realise they are signing up for the whole training
season's programme which is additional to ( & not an alternative to)
their normal club training. Swimmers not showing commitment to the
programme may be asked to vacate their position.
AIMS
To provide a
link between club training & Regional/National squad training or
camps.
To recognise &
provide opportunity for the County's most talented swimmers to train
together, improve their self management skills & raise their
standards in a highly motivating & more challenging environment
above their normal "comfort" zones at home.
To provide
education for swimmers, coaches & parents so they are equipped to
train & compete at higher levels.
To have a clear
& simple selection system for all to see & allow suitably qualified
coaches & team managers, who show interest, to become involved &
thereby have faith in the system.
