Spectacular swims at County Team Championships

Sussex achieved a record-breaking sixth place at the Inter-counties National Championship in Sheffield—the highest ranking in the county’s history. The team finished just 0.5 points behind fifth and only six points from third, reflecting a performance of the highest quality.
Of 31 swims, 24 were personal bests, including all relays. Notable highlights included the Open/Male 12–13 Medley Relay, which won by a clear 3.4s margin, and the Squadron, which secured victory from the first heat defeating the eventual overall winners – Kent.
Individually, Sussex recorded three first places, three second places and two third places, further demonstrating the strength of talent within the county.
Thanks are due to the clubs for preparing swimmers to such a high standard, and it has been a privilege to select a team of such depth and quality. Appreciation is extended to the swimmers for their dedication and excellent performances, and to the team— Jo, Kate, Wendy, Ingrid, Vince and Brian —whose care and professionalism ensured the athletes remained safe and well-supported throughout, greatly assisting the overall management of the event.
Out ten were led by Team Captains Astrid Facius and Otto Segalini-Bower.
The combined efforts of all involved have produced a result of which Sussex can be justifiably proud.
We also need to thanks SwimPath for providing our new polo shirts with its bright new design.
